CONCERT RECAP: LIVING HOPE (VANCOUVER, WA) THE ROXY (LA, CA) EL CORAZON (SEATTLE, WA)
The first debate in the 40 + hours in the van was, "Are we on tour?" With three shows in five days and traveling up and down I-5 like pros, it sort of felt like one. I called it a "mini-tour" -- but the rest of the band, mostly Dan, wasn't having it. "It's not a tour!" he said with an almost sarcastic and amused tone. "It's an excursion." Jonathan chimed in, "Yeah, it's like a military operation..." The sound guy at the Roxy called it a "mini-mini-tour". In the end we decided it was probably an excursion. A rock excursion.
We started by playing at a closed event in our hometown at Living Hope for a group of High School and middle schoolers. There were about 400 people there, and the concert really felt like it was a full "Enation" experience. The fans there had us sign their CD's, T-shirts, and even foreheads! They signed up for our new "ENATION ARMY" fan club, and told us they loved our band. Can get any better?
Our new trailer was fully loaded with all our gear and the next morning we met up at 6:30AM to hit the road after a brief stop for coffee. The I-5 treated us well and eventually we landed in Burbank, only to have to break into our house because we couldn't find the keys at 3AM! Luke and Dan found a window that I could crawl through and let everyone else in, happy to be inside and ready to sleep.
The ROXY was a great show! Everyone there treated us well and the show rocked! We were rushed to set up behind the Roxy curtain, so it was a "get ready get set go" start, but everything turned out great. Loved the venue! Pretty decent turn-out for LA. We even had some Enation fans drive all the way from Las Vegas to hear us, and it was good to meet each of the supportive and smiling fans after the show.
Back in the van on Saturday after a late night, and onto the I-5. We're getting pretty good at knowing what our favorite places to stop are on that route! We debated driving through the night but decided to take the 20 hour drive in tow days, stopping in Sacramento for the night. We ate dinner and reflected on the shows and talked about the future endeavors.
Drove home, got to see our families again on Sunday night and then Monday drove to Seattle for EL CORAZON. The venue was sweet, never played there before. There was confusion on which stage we were to play on (the lounge or the club) and after some fine tuning with the generous staff at the venue we got the green light to play at the club. We had several family members and friends drive up from Battle Ground, great support from them, and the show went really well. We got to meet more new fans and talk with them after the show.
